Fire on the water!

A word for FL & the nation

(Re: the Gulf oil spill)

by Joni Ames

Dear Friends,

I am presently traveling in the Gulf area, from the FL panhandle to the Mobile, AL region. So, the events of the Oil Spill disaster are right before my eyes, and I'm feeling the spiritual effects as well. In that, I felt the Lord gave me a word about it and wanted to share it with you below.....

As we have watched what has unfolded in the Gulf this week after the explosion of the oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico, the Lord began to speak to me about it's prophetic significance. Please understand that what I'm about to relate is symbolic and by no means am I trying to re-invent interpretation of the scriptures. Rather, this article is speaking in terms of prophetic symbolism.

The "Foot" or "Feet" of our Nation Being Anointed With Oil

The one thing the Lord reminded me of is that Mary took costly oil and anointed the feet of Jesus prior to His death. Some have interpreted this as a prophetic act that was symbolic of embalming, due to the closeness of the Lord's death.

Scripture reference: "Then Mary took a pound of very costly oil of spikenard, anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped His feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the oil." (John 12:3)

With the oil being poured out onto the "feet" of our nation, and the many drastic changes that have already occurred to it's structure, could this be of prophetic significance and warning of the impending death of our nation as we know it?

Very often, the Lord speaks through prophetic parallels or parables. And quite often, I've also noted that an event - be it dream or actual - can contain several "messages." And thus, I continued to seek Him for more about this event, knowing that there were additional messages to us in it.

Oil - The Golden Calf

Truly, oil has become as a golden calf to the nations, and will be a part of the end time battle, even in the Middle East.

In Exodus 32:20, it says, "Then he (Moses) took the calf which they had made, burned it in the fire, and ground it to powder; and he scattered it on the water and made the children of Israel drink it."

Are the nations about to drink of their "golden calf" called oil?

Fire, & Water

Fire, Oil and Water are Biblical symbols. In particular, Fire and Oil are symbolic of the Holy spirit, while Water is symbolic of the Word.

As they began to try to burn off the oil spill on the water in the Gulf, the fire burning the oil on top of a huge ocean of water reminded me of the time Elijah was faced with a "contest" of sorts against those who served Baal in I Kings Chapter 18.

The fire not only consumed the wood and the sacrifice, but the much water that was poured upon it to stop it from burning. Then many turned from Baal to the Lord.

I believe we are at a point in time when Our God, who is a Consuming Fire (Heb. 12:29), will truly outshine the "little g" gods of this world. I believe we have entered into a time of the Day of His Power, and we will see many turn to Him as they see the Scriptures fulfilled before their eyes.

In that, I'm reminded of verse 41 where Elijah said, "There is the sound of abundance of rain."

For those of you who have felt "dry" and even "dehydrated" due to all you have gone through - the abundant rains of God are coming forth for you! Additionally, many new converts are and will continue to be added to the Body of Christ throughout this season.

An Offering of Oil

There are several places in the Bible where it speaks of an offering of oil, set on fire, as being a sweet smelling sacrifice to the Lord. One such verse is in Leviticus 2:16: "Then the priest shall burn the memorial portion: part of its beaten grain and part of its oil, with all the frankincense, as an offering made by fire to the Lord."

Lev. 1:9, 1:13, and 8:21 speak of a washing of the inner parts of the legs of a sacrifice, then burning it on the altar. If you look at the foot of our nation in the Gulf area, that is the same type of symbolic inner region. The scriptures refer to that as a "burnt offering, a pleasing aroma, an offering made to the LORD by fire."

With over a million gallons of oil being lost at a time in the Gulf, it truly is a tremendous sacrifice. Let us pray and offer it up to the Lord as a sacrifice that will be a sweet smelling savor to Him which would cause Him to rescue us from the plans of the enemy.

What is occurring can have one of two results:

(1) Will this "sacrifice" cause us to be more dependent and thus subservient to other nations for our oil? Already today the White House has halted further off shore drilling in our nation because of this event.

Or:

(2) Will it hasten the invention of the use of other forms of energy for our nation?

May God have His way in the midst of this disaster our nation is facing.

PRAYER

Father, in Jesus' name, we bring this disaster in the Gulf to you. Rather than allow the enemy to rejoice in stealing from us, we offer the oil spill up to You as a sacrifice. May it be a sweet savor before You, and acceptable in Your Sight. Please show the workers what to do and help them to shut off further loss. We also pray for the protection and safety of those working on it. Thank you for your love and protection. In Jesus' name, Amen.
